GENERAL

Q: How can I write a message that only teachers can see?

A: If you’re a teacher (or a teacher-administrator) in TwinSpace, you’ll see a “Teachers Board” on the home page where you can publish notes only visible to other teachers. As a “teacher-administrator” you can delete any publication and as a “teacher” you can delete your own.

Q: How can I change the appearance of TwinSpace?

A: Access the settings. You’ll see a space where the image is changed.

 Q: How can I change the TwinSpace name?

A: Access the settings. You’ll see a space where you can modify the TwinSpace name. This change will not affect the name of the project to which the TwinSpace refers.

Q: How can I change the TwinSpace description?

A: Access the settings. You’ll see a space where you can change that description. Click on “Save”.

 Q: I think I’ve found a computer fault, who do I tell?

 A: Report it to your corresponding NSS. They’ll be in charge of confirming if it’s a computer fault, as well as telling the technical team so that they can work on it.

PROFILE

Q: How can I view or modify my own profile?

A: Click on your name, which appears when you are in TwinSpace.

A: Click on your name, which appears when you are in TwinSpace. Once there, click on “Modify Profile”. You’ll enter a space where you can change the profile photo.

 

Q: How do I change the password?

A: Click on your name, which appears when you are in TwinSpace. Once there, click on “Modify Profile”. You’ll see a space that allows you to change your password.

 Q: How do I change my email address?

A: Click on your name, which appears when you are i TwinSpace. Once there, click on “Modify Profile”. You’ll see a space where the profile’s email address can be changed.

Q: What is TwinMail?

A: TwinMail is the TwinSpace messaging service. It works just like eTwinning Desktop Messaging. Each person has a TwinMail for all their TwinSpaces, which allows you to send messages to any member of the TwinSpaces you participate in.

 

MEMBER MANAGEMENT

Q: How do I add a teaching member to a TwinSpace?

A: Access the “Members” area. If you have a teacher-administrator role, you can add teachers from this area.

A: Access the “Members” area. If you have a teacher-administrator role, you can add students from this area.

 Q: How do you look for TwinSpace members?

A: Access the “Members” area. Enter the terms you want to search in the dialogue box above the list of member names.

 Q: Can I change student passwords?

A: Access the “Members” area. Look for the student in the list of members. To the right of the row, click on “Reset password” and follow the corresponding instructions.

 Q: How can I generate and export a list of all student usernames and passwords?

A: Access the Members area. Click on “Export student list”.

 Q: How can I import a list of usernames and student passwords?

A: Access the “Members” area. Click on “Import student list”. To do this, you must already have a list that has been exported. You can modify it in a spreadsheet program, but make sure that the cell structure in the table is not altered.

 

Q: How do you change the role of a member?

A: Access the “Members” area. Find the person and select the role you want from the corresponding drop-down list.

 Q: What are the differences between the different roles?

A:

  • Teacher-administrator: can modify and delete anything.
  • Teacher: can modify and delete their own contents and those of students.
  • Student-administrator: can choose a number of students with administration roles. They may change designated pages.
  • Student: can add images and videos, as well as modifying designated pages.
  • Visitor: can see TwinSpace content.

 

Q: How can I remove a TwinSpace member?

A: Access the “Members” area. When you find the person, click on “Delete”, in the actions on the right.

 Q: How can I leave a message for another member?

A: Access the “Members” area. Find the person in question and click on their name to visit their profile page. It’s possible to leave a public comment on their profile page. It’s also possible to send them a TwinMail message. If you’re online, you can use the messaging system at the bottom of the page.

 

MATERIALS (images, videos, documents)

 Q: How can I include an image or a file?

A: Go to the “Materials” area. Select “Images”, “Videos” or “Documents”. You’ll see two sections: one for folders (or albums) and another for documents (or images). To add an image or document, either drag and drop it on the indicated box or click the link to upload it from your device.

 Q: What kind of file can I upload?

A: Supported formats are: ai | aiff | dbf | dif | doc | docx | eps | flac | mp3 | odg | odp | ods | odt | otp | ots | ott | pdf | ppt | pptx | rar | sda | sdd | sdc | sdw | stc | sti | stw | svg | sxc | sxi | sxw | txt | vor | wav | wma | xls | xlsx | zip

 Q: What is the maximum file size?

A: 20 Mb

 

Q: The materials I want to upload are formats that are not supported. What do I do?

A: You can compress the file into a ZIP or RAR file. They are accepted formats.

 

Q: How do I modify the information in an image or file?

A: Pass the mouse over the image and you will see a link to “Modify”. Press to modify it.

 Q: How do I delete an image or file?

A: Pass the mouse over the image and you will see a link to “Modify”. Press to modify it. Once you have chosen to modify it, you can use the “Delete” option.

 Q: How do document folders and image albums work?

A: An image album is a series of images chosen by TwinSpace members. All images are kept in the view of all images, but you can use the albums to select a particular collection to later add to a page and create a gallery with them. A folder is a space where you can organize and store documents. It works just like a folder or directory on a computer (Mac or PC).

 Q: How does the search for materials work?

A: We will start by accessing the section where the type of materials we want to find (images, videos or documents) is located. Then we will insert the search terms in the box to the right of “search”, and that’s it.

 

Q: How do I add a video?

A: To use videos you have to upload them first to YouTube or to Vimeo. Then you add them to your TwinSpace from the “Materials” area, entering the “Videos” section. Simply copy and paste the URL (the web address) of the video into the corresponding box.

 Q: How do I modify a video?

A: When passing the mouse over the video use the link to “Modify”.

A: Pass the mouse over the video and you will see a link to “Modify”. Click to modify it, you can use the “Delete” option.

 Q: How do I create a page?

A: Go to «Pages». Under the list of pages there is a rubric that is used to «Create page».

 Q: How do I change who can modify a page?

A: When creating or modifying a page we can select from the drop-down menu «Who has permission to modify this page?».

 

Q: How do I change who can see a page?

A: When creating or modifying a page we can select from the dropdown menu “Who can see this page?”

 Q: How do I insert an image or image gallery on a page?

A: When editing the page, select the thumbtack icon on the writing toolbar. Follow the on-screen instructions.

 Q: How is a page published so that it can be accessed online?

A: When creating or modifying a page, use the “Who can see this page?” drop-down menu. Select “Everyone (public page)”.

 Q: How do you check which pages are public on the internet?

A: At the start of the TwinSpace, use the link that says “How does this look outside the TwinSpace?” below the TwinSpace area bar.

 

Q: How do I delete (archive) a page?

A: Since version 4 of TwinSpace (in operation since September 2014), it is no longer possible to delete pages completely. To avoid any TwinSpace page being visible, simply enter to modify it and click on “Archive this page”, below the writing box.

 

Q: How do I take a page out of the file?

A: Access the “Archived Pages”, find the page you want to be visible again and click on “Modify”. Under the writing box, click on “Remove from archived pages”.

 Q: Who can see the pages once they’re already archived?

A: People with a teacher-administrator role.

 Q: Who can see page drafts?

A: Anybody with a teacher-administrator role and the person who created them.

 

FORUMS

Q: How do I open a new forum?

A: To open a new forum, you need to be a teacher-administrator. Access the “Forums” area and use the “Add Forum” button at the end of the list.

 

Q: How do you open a new discussion?

A: When entering the forum where we want to start the discussion, we must use “Open new discussion”.

 Q: How do you participate in a discussion?

A: Click on one of the forums. Click on one of the discussions. At the end of the comments, if there are any, you will see a writing box to write what we want. Then press “Save” to publish it.

 Q: How do you quote a previous comment?

A: In the comment you want to quote you’ll see the “Quote” option, which can be used to answer in the conversation referring to that comment.

Q: How do I access the chat history?

A: To see this you need to be a teacher-administrator. You can do this from the Chat” area you can enter from the upper

Q: What is the difference between the chat area and the chat that appears at the bottom of the screen?

A: The chat area allows for many chats. In the chat that appears in the bottom of the screen we are limited to chats between two participants.

 Q: How do I create a videoconference?

A: Click on “Create a live activity” and choose the title, number of participants, duration, date and time of the activity.

 

Q: Can I record the videoconference session?

A: Yes, you can record by clicking on Meeting and Start Recording.

 Q: What formats are there in Adobe Connect?

A: There are three profiles:

1- Sharing: Sharing desktop, document or blank screen

2- Discussion: Open a discussion thread, chat and create an online poll

3- Collaboration: Upload files, chat, create notes and share blank document.

 

Q: What are the roles in Adobe Connect?

A: Host, Presenter and Participant. The host can decide what role each user has.

 

Q: Can I invite my students to the session?

A: No, the session is only for partner teachers in the project.

 Q: How can I create a poll within Adobe Connect?

A: First you have to choose the Discussion format and below, to the right, you can create the poll where it says “Poll”.

 Q: Can I share files with my partners?

A: Yes, in the “Collaboration” format you can upload files and share them.

 Q: Can I share my desktop with my partners?

A: Yes, in the Sharing format you can share your desktop or a document.
